What Is A Pinhole Camera?
A pinhole camera is a camera without a lens, instead it has a tiny hole called a pinhole. This hole allows light to come through into the object (probably a box). The box should be painted black so that no light can come through any other spaces apart from the pinhole. In the box there should be light sensitive paper so that the light can come not the paper and when you process it it can come up with a picture.
My Pinhole Camera:
This is the front of my pinhole camera, it has been made from a Tiffany & co jewellery box.
When you lift off the piece of tape you can see a tiny hole, which is the lens. The reason the is a piece of tape covering it is because when you put the light sensitive paper inside the box, you don't want the paper to detect any light before you have pointed the camera at what you want it to get a picture of.
This is the inside of my pinhole camera, it is painted black so that no light will come through from other parts of the box other than the lens. The square in the middle in where the lens is.
This is also the inside of my pinhole camera, this side would be opposite the lens as this would be where the light sensitive paper would be stuck down. It is opposite the lens so that the light can go straight through the lens, onto the paper.
My Pinhole Camera Pictures:
This was my first attempt at taking a picture with the pinhole camera and I think that this was probably the worst picture that I took. This picture didn't go too well because the exposure from the sky has almost cancelled out the building in the picture to the left. For this picture I kept the camera lens open for 20 seconds.
This was my second attempt at taking a picture with the pinhole camera. This picture was a bit better than the first one because it didn't have as much sky in it so the picture was more clear. For this picture I kept the lens open for 40 seconds.
This was the final picture that I took with the pinhole camera in our lesson. This was by far, the best picture that I took with the pinhole camera. It was the best because there wasn't a lot of sky as we were in a more shaded area and kept the camera lens open for 60 seconds which is the longest that we did it for.
This is what happened when I didn't stick the light sensitive paper to the pinhole camera. You can still see what the pictures but the exposure is only in the middle because the paper moved in the box when I was taking the picture.
